RENFREWSHIRE racqueteer Elena Baltacha stopped the exodus of British tennis players from Wimbledon on Tuesday.
The wildcard entry knocked out Alona Bondarenko in the first round of the All England championships 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Baltacha, ranked number 106 in the world joined Andy Murray as the only Brits to progress in the competition.
Late on, on court number one, she dropped the first set, before stepping up her game to overthrow the former world number 19.
Today she'll meet Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens, a former Wimbledon junior champion, in the second round.
She's never dropped a set to the Belgian, defeating her twice on hard courts in 2008 and 2005.
Baltacha last reached the second round at Wimbledon in 2002, when she progressed a stage further.
Her brother Sergei is a former St Mirren player and her father, also Sergei, was a football international.
