Kilbarchan athletics

FINE performances from Kilbarchan athletes saw success at the National Junior League meeting at Grangemouth at the weekend.
Sally Webster, competing for Team Glasgow, smashed her own Kilbarchan under-20s hammer record with a throw measured at 29.31m and Holly Belch, who was competing for Sale Manchester, won the 400m Hurdles in a personal best of 62.63s.

Locally, there
was a much improved performance from Kilbarchan Athletic Club at the second meeting of the Central and South of Scotland league at Linwood last Sunday.

The club finished in 2nd place behind Ayr Seaforth AC and there were some top performances in cool, windy conditions.

Judith McNicol was a double winner for the Senior Women, clearing 4.59m in the Long Jump and also winning the 100m Hurdles in 18.6 seconds.

Hazel Ross won the u17 womens 80m Hurdles in 12.7 seconds and in the under 15 girls age group, Sarah Glenny, in her first race for the club, was an impressive winner of the 200m in 27.0 seconds and Frances Campbell won the B race with a fast 27.1 seconds.

Conor McNulty led from early on to win the senior 1,500m in 3.56.3 with Paul Leck winning the B race and John McMillan winning the veterans event.

Cameron Clark was 3rd in the high jump (1.60m) and also third in the long jump (6.24m) while Craig Stewart was third in the 200m (22.6s).

For the under-17 men, Andrew Cunningham won the shot (11.62m) and was third in the javelin (32.43m). Jack Lochans won the triple jump (11.09m) and Connor Henderson was first in the 100m Hurdles (16.0).
