GLENIFFER Thistle won a top of the table clash with East End, by the odd goal in five.
A large crowd gathered in Greenock for the encounter and weren't disappointed as Thistle did their best to entertain them early on.

The ball was in the net after just two minutes as Michael Donnell converted a Scott Bruce through ball.

Donnell
doubled his tally ten minutes later after good work by Jordan Annan.

East End responded and pulled a goal back shortly afterwards and just before half-time they hit the equaliser.

After the restart Gordon Ion could have sealed the win for Glens but spurned two good chances before Gary Blair saw a powerful strike beaten away but Michael Donnell turned in the rebound.

With the clock ticking down Paul Williamson broke up an East End attack and was brought down but defender Andy Hunt fired the resultant set-piece wide.

Gleniffer held on to gain the win that assured them of at least a play off position by containing the East End onslaught for the final five minutes.

Ref's man of the match was defender Blair Wright but a special mention to Michael Donnell whose hat trick was the difference between the two teams — but it was a sterling effort from Glen's 13-man squad that earned victory.
