RENFREW racketeer Eilidh Ballantyne is preparing for the Bank of Scotland national junior badminton championships in Edinburgh on Saturday.
Competing in the under-23 mixed doubles category with partner Stephen McPhail a good performance is expected at Meadowbank sports centre.

The competition will be fierce though, as the tournament has attracted a bumper entry with 195 of Scotland's top junior players competing across the three age groups at U13, U17 and U23 level.

Eilidh will also be competing in a local derby in the ladies' doubles with Edinburgh's Caroline Collinson. They're coming up against reigning champions; Kilmacolm's Alison Marr and Victoria Wan from Erskine.

Caitlin Pringle, of East Ren badminton club, will also be in action.
Play starts at 9.30am.
