AN ERSKINE veteran is appealing to buddies to support the charity's annual fundraising week which begins on Monday.
Former airman Harry Taylor, originally from Renfrew, served in the Royal Air Force during World War Two.
He then played bass drum in the 602 squadron band.
Now 88 Harry said: "I enjoy living at Erskine and I would hope that the Paisley Extra re
aders will all do something to help the home in June.
"It needs all the support available as it is run on a voluntary basis".
Erskine week is from June 1 to 8 with events throughout Renfrewshire from Sunday, when a biker cavalcade will be visiting the Bishopton home.
Spokeswoman Susan Hamilton explained: "We urgently need more volunteers to help out during Erskine week.
"We have so many events organised including can collections and bag packing that we need some extra hands, not only in Bishopton but in Glasgow too, specifically in Buchanan Street, Sauchiehall Street and Argyle Street.
"If you could spare some time to help us we would be very grateful.
"Help us make a difference to the ex-service men and women we care for throughout Scotland".
A photography exhibition, car wash, summer fete, family day and disco are among Erskine week activities.
On Saturday June 6, walkers will take over the Erskine bridge in a fundraising stroll.
Meanwhile, veterans themselves will also be walking to raise cash.
A group from Bishopton with help from its physiotherapy department will stage the charity's first Courtyard Walk around the centre.
Anyone interested in taking part in events, or lending a hand, can contact the fundraising team on 814 4555 or visit www.erskine.org.uk/erskineweek.
