HER love affair with music began 19 years ago, and acoustic songstress Fiona Crawford is still besotted.
Fiona (25) is playing Paisley Unplugged next weekend, and recalls writing melodies when she was just six.
She told Scene : "I remember writing songs with my sister and performing them in class.
"And when I was 12 I started playing the keyboard
and writing music, but it wasn't until my dad brought his guitar down from the loft that I really got into it.
"I'm pretty much self taught instrumentally but I have had a few lessons. I studied music performance in Perth and formed a band — Rocketfox — but now I'm solo I'm more acoustic-based".
Shawlands-based Fiona aims is to write "catchy" songs, and says she's wary of penning album tunes.
She told Scene: "I try to encompass a few subjects rather than just the simple love songs. I've written a tribute to someone who died, and songs for friends who are going through hard times.
"I also have a backing vocalist who brings good harmonies into the songs".
Fiona counts among her influences Irish singer Gemma Hayes, Lene Marlin and "a bit of Avril Lavigne and Damien Rice".
She said: "I mainly play Glasgow but I've tried to concentrate more on paid gigs, so I've played at other venues, including Paisley Unplugged".
Highlights of Fiona's musical career include her band supporting the Subways at The Garage last year and recording with the producer behind the Kaiser Chiefs and the Pigeon Detectives.
"I've written quite a few tracks recently so my next step will probably be sending them off to publishers.
"I'm throwing myself into songwriting because the age thing isn't against you in that type of thing.
"Whatever happens with my music, I want to keep it up because it makes me really happy and I can't imagine not doing it".
Fiona Crawford appears at Paisley Unplugged a week on Saturday at 3pm.
