WITH flowing red hair and sweet voice, she seamlessly matches the stereotype of the typical Scottish chanteuse.
Elderslie-born Loretta Reid has been singing professionally for about 20 years and considers herself a jazz performer first and foremost.
But, reflecting diverse vocal experiences, Loretta (42) insists her forthcoming gig at Paisley arts centre will be "a bit of everything".
She told Scene : "I went to see Michael Bublé and he introduced me to the idea of singing updated songs in my set. That way I hope I can appeal to a wider audience.
"So, as well as the jazz, there's some Girls Aloud in there and Mercy by Duffy, so it's a real mix."
But when it comes to personal favourites, Loretta choice comes down firmly on the likes of Peggy Lee.
Loretta said: "She's definitely my favourite artist to sing. Frank Sinatra once said that every female vocalist should study her, and I did".
Loretta dropped out of school at 16 to join the Scottish National Orchestra choir. She has sung all her life, lived in Paisley for 10 years, but now resides in Linwood.
She moved back to Scotland after a foray in England at the invitation of none other than Sir Michael Parksinson.
Loretta told Scene: "He was sent a CD and played it on his radio show. He then sent a message to say he was a fan and invited me to play at his pub in Maidenhead.
"Unfortunately there was a disappointing turnout and the PR company dropped out, so I was advised to return to Scotland and build up my fan base."
Loretta's album, Let's Get Lost, was released in 2006.
She told Scene : "My goal is really to put out another album. I funded the first one myself and I want to record another".
Loretta is appearing in the arts centre tomorrow night with Alan McPike (keyboards) and Alyn Cosker, who has worked with musicians like Curtis Stigers.
Tickets cost from £10 and the show starts at 7.30pm. Call 887 1010 to book.
