FORMED in London 17 years ago, the Bluetones took the indie scene by storm in the mid-90s.
Still fresh-faced and touring, the boys appeared in Glasgow earlier in the month.
Frontman Mark Morriss (37) is playing a handful of Scottish dates solo, including Paisley's Soho, and admits he is baffled by the group being labelled "Britpop survivors".
He told Live: "It's a weird connotation. People seem to label you like that if you're in a band, but if you're a solo artist, nobody questions it.
"It's as if you are expected to hate each other by now. But performing together comes as easily to us as eating and breathing.
"I think it's because people associate us with the time we came to the public's attention, whereas we've seen much more come and go since then".
Mark played Soho last year and is looking forward to his acoustic set next week.
He told Live: "Acoustic nights are more open and I can play more requests.
"I prefer a band if I'm completely honest but it's a pleasure to be up there on your own and glean a certain satisfaction from it…but it's a lonely existence".
A dad to seven-month old son George, Mark "can't be away from home for long".
He admitted: "It's a bit of a juggling act — I'm away about 40 per cent of the time but I'm blessed that when I'm home I can be there all day and all night, so I don't come home from work grumpy and tired. I try to be a hands-on dad".
He added: "Music is a constantly-changing scene but it's the centre of my whole existence, apart from my new son.
"It's the passion of my life and I am constantly learning. I also think I'm more open minded than I was when I was younger".
Mark and Bluetones guitarist Adam Devlin are travelling to Cornwall next week to finish some writing "away from the distraction of family life" after his Scottish dates.
Catch Mark's set at Soho in Shuttle Street next Friday from 8.30pm. Tickets £8 via 887 8042 or from the bar.
